A Cumbrian estate agent has gone global – and is offering people the chance to buy a $45 million private Maldives island.

David Britton Estates has launched David Britton International after six months of planning and has been commissioned to market a series of luxury villas at the Soneva Jani resort in the Maldives.

Managing director David Britton said: “Individual villas are priced from $4.4 million upwards, but the absolute jewel in the crown is a $45 million private island which stands alone as the only single-residence island in the Maldives archipelago. It is an exceptional place which we are confident will attract international attention.

“Today marks an incredibly exciting milestone for our estate agency. Since our launch in 2018, we have developed a reputation as a team who have a genuine passion for what we do and go to great lengths to deliver exceptional levels of service.

“In a few short years, we’ve won awards, opened multiple offices and become one of the most effective estate agencies in Cumbria. This next step feels huge, but has been a long time in the planning.

Soneva Jani is on the island of Medhufaru in the Maldives’ Noonu Atoll, which sits 105 miles north of the capital city of Malé.

The private North Island retreat is an oasis of verdant tropical forest and powder-white beaches, kissed by the Maldivian sun and surrounded by the sparkling turquoise waters of a private lagoon.
Sitting at the northern tip of Soneva Jani, it will feature a 3,717sq m built-up area and a total land area of 33,437sq m.

The villa complex will be crafted from sustainable, ethically sourced materials, using fast-growing, ultra-sustainable and durable bamboo or plantation-grown wood.

The vast North Island complex will have five bedrooms and three children’s rooms across a number of villas, combining the ultimate private escape.

The main villa building will boast an opulent master suite, a main living area and a breath-taking infinity pool. A walkway will link it to a gym and fitness area.
Two exclusive guest villas will sit on the beach with direct access to the tranquillity of the picture-perfect sands. There is a development plan to add two further villas.

A nearby beach shack will offer laid-back elegance, while a private cinema on the beach will provide enchanting starlit cinematic moments.

Meanwhile, a beachside grill and bar with an open-air dining area will invite indulgence, creating a unique dining experience with toes in the sand.

David said: “I spent five days at Soneva Jani earlier this year and I can say with absolute confidence that it is the most breathtakingly perfect place I have ever had the privilege to visit.

“Every detail is meticulously considered and executed. This is a true one-of-a-kind place – a unique opportunity to own a private island in one of the most beautiful locations this planet has to offer.”

David Britton International is also marketing properties in Spain and in the coming months, properties in other areas of Europe, Thailand and the Dominican Republic will be among those to hit the market.

David said: “This is the start of something special. We have an established brand in Cumbria and southern Scotland and we’re laser-focused on continuing to deliver the very high levels of personalised service that have become synonymous with our brand.

“We will also be full steam ahead with our new international instructions, as we make every effort to deliver global impact from our headquarters on the cusp of the Lake District National Park.”
