Cumbrian businesswomen shortlisted for prestigious awards

A number of Cumbrian businesswomen have been shortlisted for prestigious awards.

The Enterprise Vision Awards will be held tomorrow, Friday, September 27 in Blackpool. The UK’s largest business awards dedicated solely to women, they recognise the achievements of female entrepreneurs across the North West.

Celebrating their 13th year, the awards honour women excelling in their fields.

Mel Walmsley

Mel, company director of Lakes Sandwiches and Brandreth Foods, based in South Cumbria, is a finalist in the Family Business category.

She said: “It’s a real honour to be recognised alongside so many inspiring women and to represent our family-run businesses, which have been built with dedication and a commitment to supporting local suppliers and our community.”

Natalie Barker

Natalie Barker

Natalie, founder of M&M Business Support, is a finalist in the Customer Service category.

Launched in January 2023, Natalie’s firm provides business support services to organisations and industries of all sizes across the North West.

She said: “I’m shocked and truly grateful for the recognition and achievement of being an EVAs finalist. Thank you to everyone for your support, I couldn’t do this without my team, wonderful clients and the wider business community I’ve met along the way.”

Vicky Hutchinson & Carol Wallace, CreativeHutch

CreativeHutch is a brand and marketing agency, based in Carlisle.

They work with a variety of businesses from funded start-ups to large, multi-national organisations to take their business to the next level and achieve their goals.

The co-founders have been nominated in the Creative Industry category.

Emma Browning, Meraki HR

Meraki HR help start-ups create the right foundations for them to create a great place to work and become an employer of choice, and help scale-ups grow successfully, making sure their people are on board and ready to grow with them.

Based in Kendal, it is run by Emma Browning, who has been nominated in the Customer Service category.

Samantha Gilchrist, the Gilchrist Collection

The Gilchrist Collection wedding venues are a group of 12 exclusive use properties, including Dalston Hall, near Carlisle. Samantha Gilchrist is a finalist in the Business Woman category.
