Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw are celebrating reaching 24 members of their business initiative, Club 24.
Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw launched Club 24 to give local firms the chance to make a real difference in the lives of families across Cumbria by providing the cost of 24 hours of care for one patient.
Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw provide specialist care for adults and children with life-limiting conditions. Every year, they support hundreds of patients and their families across Cumbria, offering care that goes beyond medical needs to include emotional and practical support.
Since its launch earlier this year, 24 local businesses have now joined Club 24, each pledging to donate £877 per year—the cost of providing a full day of care for one patient.
The average length of a stay for a patient at the hospice is around 12 days meaning that together, these businesses have donated the cost of an average stay for two patients, helping to create lasting memories for families.
One of the local businesses to join the club is WCF, based in Brampton. Managing director, Jo Ritzema, said: “As a business very much rooted in Cumbria, we make it a priority to support organisations such as the hospice which make a huge difference to our communities.
“The Club 24 initiative is a brilliant way for businesses to support the work they do and ensure that people across Cumbria continue to receive the vital services they provide to patients and their families.”
Earlier this month, the hospice hosted a special event to celebrate the official launch of Club 24. The afternoon brought together current members and businesses interested in joining the initiative, allowing them to network, tour Jigsaw, Cumbria’s children’s hospice, and see the impact of their support.
Attendees were treated to heartwarming videos created by the young people at Jigsaw, showcasing the hospice’s outstanding facilities. The event was made even more inspiring by words from Paul Agnew, local businessman and hospice trustee, who spoke about the importance of supporting such a vital service.
Martha Pardoe, relationship fundraiser, added: “It was an honour to present our current members with a special plaque at the event, recognising their incredible commitment. The support from Club 24 is crucial in raising vital funds to ensure we can continue providing care for local people when they need it most.”
By becoming a member of Club 24, businesses will play a crucial role in ensuring local people can access compassionate care. In return, members receive perks such as networking opportunities, volunteer days, and their logos featured on the hospice’s website.
