From new builds to large agricultural projects, Penrith-based Love Solar Ltd have a growing reputation for using their expertise to develop sustainable, energy efficient projects in Cumbria and beyond.

Fluctuations in the price of energy have led to increased interest in solar as a means of generating electricity and the county meets the national average when it comes to having a climate conducive to achieving a reliable flow.

The feed-in-tariff, a scheme which offered payments to households that produce their own electricity, inspired many to investigate the possibility of generating their own power.

“People have become much more aware of energy as an issue,” Ewen Estill, Love Solar’s managing director, says. “25 years ago, sustainable energy generation was on the periphery but now it’s very much in the mainstream.”

Love Solar Ltd was set up in 2009 and have installed over 1,200 solar PV systems throughout Cumbria as well as the wider North West and south west Scotland.

“We are a solar energy installation company, dedicated to reducing our customers’ energy bills and environmental impact with professionally designed and installed PV systems,” Ewen says. “From free surveys to installation and project management, we’re a one-stop-shop for solar and take pride in our service and reputation.”

The company also manufactures solar panels and has a range suitable for installation in new build properties and car ports.

Solfit Ltd was established in 2016 with the aim of creating a UK manufactured product using British aluminium and European PV panels to maintain the systems green credentials. While panels and frames are manufactured abroad flashing and component parts are all UK manufactured.

Both businesses work well alongside one another with Love Solar Ltd fitting the products made by Solfit. Love Solar employs eight full time members of staff and is Cumbria’s longest established solar PV company.

New build properties are now required to have solar panels installed to be energy efficient.

The agricultural industry is adopting solar to cut energy costs during times of peak demand and even listed properties can install solar.

With an investment in a project likely to pay for itself in around eight years, systems can prove cost effective for domestic as well as commercial projects.

The company estimated that with 15,000 panels installed so far, their combined generating capacity is around 41MWh per year.

Love Solar is a member of Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, a partner of Business Crack.
