
Members of the Defence Committee, which includes the Barrow and Furness MP, will consider the impact of the Budget on the UK’s armed forces when they meet for the first time next week.
The Barrow and Furness MP Michelle Scrogham will join newly appointed colleagues in the committee’s first evidence session due to be held on November 5.
MP’s will hear from Professor Malcolm Chalmers, deputy director general of the defence think tank, the Royal United Services Institute and Fenalla McGerty a senior fellow for defence economics at the International Institute for Strategic Studies.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves reaffirmed Labour’s commitment to defence spending announcing an increase to the Ministry of Defence’s budget of £2.9bn next year and pledging to continue to provide military support to Ukraine worth £3bn per year.
