A Whitehaven man is in contention for a major national award in the competitive world of builders’ merchants.
Phil Hannah, of JT Atkinson, has been nominated for Branch Manager of the Year and will be attending the awards ceremony in London on Friday.
He will be up against Kevin Beecher, of Lords Builders’ Merchants, London and the Home Counties, and John Cully, Cowal Building & Plumbing Supplies who supply the west of Scotland.
Phil, 38, has been in charge of the Whitehaven branch of JT Atkinson for two years and previously worked for Travis Perkins, first becoming a branch manager in 2011.
He said: “I feel very honoured to have been nominated for the award when you consider there are around 8,000 builders’ merchants across the country. We have 14 staff at the Whitehaven branch and hope to expand to 17 in 2025.”
The BM Awards are the longest-running industry awards, recognising colleagues, companies and teams from across the United Kingdom.
There are 24 categories which recognise the enormous achievements that take place across the industry every year. The excellence that is contained within the sector is on show for all to see and celebrate in central London, with more than 700 attending every year.
The event on Friday is being held at Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, London.
