Four managing partners at a well-established accountancy firm have amassed a total of 125 years of service with the company between them.
The senior partners at Cumbrian-based chartered accountants Saint & Co, all started working at the firm in the 1990s.
Stuart Farrer, Ian Thompson and Andrew Liddle started at the company within a couple of years of each other between 1990 and 1992, and Lindsay Farrer joined them in 1998.
All managing partners have played a significant role in expanding Saint & Co which now has 10 offices across Cumbria and Dumfries and Galloway.
Stuart, based from the firm’s head office in Carlisle, said: “There is an ongoing joke within Saint & Co that when you join the company, you never leave, and the collective service of our four managing partners proves there is some truth in that.
“Creating a friendly and welcoming working environment has resulted in excellent staff retention over the years, and having such great colleagues is one of the most enjoyable things about working at Saint & Co.
“As a company, we pride ourselves on forming long and trusted relationships with our clients, and it is important for the businesses, charities and other organisations we work with that they know they are receiving a service from somebody they are familiar with and who will go above and beyond to ensure the best possible outcome for them.”
Stuart’s involvement with Saint & Co started in 1990 and he has become a well-known personality among the Cumbrian business community, supporting a wide variety of businesses of all sizes and sectors, placing particular focus on charities.
A year later, Ian started at the company and he has represented a large range of clients from small startups to well-established larger businesses, with specialisms in hospitality, tourism and academies. He splits his time between the firm’s offices in Ambleside and Penrith.
Andrew, who joined the company in 1992, leads the Penrith team and is a general accountancy practitioner with expertise in specialist accountancy software Xero, in addition to providing business assistance and tax guidance to the owners and directors of limited companies.
Lindsay is also based in Carlisle and started at the company in 1998. She has helped grow the business by providing general accountancy services and tax advice to a wide range of clients, as well as facilitating the sale and purchase of many businesses.
Lindsay said: “Spending the past quarter of a century working at a company I love has been so rewarding, and it’s been amazing to be part of such a great journey which has seen the company expand rapidly.
“As a company, we now employ around 120 members of staff and a further 10 partners. Some of the team have been at the company for longer than the managing partners, while many are just starting their careers and we look forward to supporting their development at the company for decades to come.”
Saint & Co was founded by John Jackson Saint in 1884 and marked its 140th anniversary this year.
