A new member has joined Britain Energy Coast’s board of directors.
Mel Kinsella was appointed at the organisation’s AGM, following a vote by cluster members.
Mel, CEO and director of Kinsella HR Solutions Ltd, has over 25 years of experience as a qualified people professional, working across several sectors and specialising in strategic HR and business development.
Mel takes up the directorship left by Peter Fleming who announced he was stepping back earlier this year.
Mel said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the BECBC board. I’m passionate about creating spaces where collaboration and networking can truly thrive, and I’m keen to support members in unlocking new opportunities for growth and diversification- especially by drawing on the region’s strengths in the nuclear sector and its innovation potential.
“I’m also really looking forward to building strategic partnerships with public bodies, educators, and other business networks to open up even more possibilities for our members.
“Most of all, I want to help amplify the voice of the brilliant members who make up BECBC, making sure we’re heard and represented where it matters most.”
Dianne Richardson, CEO of BECBC, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Mel Kinsella to the board.
“Her experience heading up both a micro business and a Community Interest Company, along with her enthusiasm for supporting fellow business owners and building communities, means she will bring huge value to the team.”
Paul Pointon, chair of BECBC, added: “Mel’s energy, strategic thinking, and genuine commitment to the region will be a real asset to the Board. We’re excited to work with her to continue driving forward BECBC’s mission.”
Members also reviewed financial updates from finance director Andrew Clitheroe, and gained insight into the current business landscape from Paul.
Mark Fryer, leader of Cumberland Council was the keynote speaker.
The event also marked the two-year point in BECBC’s three-year strategy. Members had the opportunity to share feedback that will help shape the next phase of the cluster’s plans during the upcoming team strategy day in July.
The AGM also marked the retirement of executive director John Grainger and BECBC extend ed its deepest thanks for his service and dedication.
