A new £10 million cement terminal at the Port of Workington has been opened.
Thomas Armstrong Group’s facility on the Prince of Wales Dock site is designed to handle imported cement and other powders and features a 20,000-tonne storage capacity across two silos.
The project has doubled the storage capacity with the design nominated for the 2024 UK Trimble Tekla Awards.

New weighing and automation technology means a 44-tonne lorry can be loaded in less than 10 minutes, cleanly with no wastage.
The company says it’s the latest investment in new manufacturing processes, machinery, and people aimed to enable it to remain competitive and meet customers’ requirements.
