Before and after the shopfront scheme

Traders in north and West Cumbria can access funding to improve their shopfronts.

Cumberland Council has secured an extra £105,000 from the Government for its scheme until next year, which offers grants to businesses to help them improve their premises.

It will be the third year Cumberland Council has made capital funding available and so far, over 100 premises have been upgraded, and 11 vacant units have been brought back into use.

Leader of Cumberland Council, Mark Fryer, said: “The previous grants have proved to be a great success, and we urge businesses to apply for the funding.

“If you have a commercial high street or town centre property which would benefit from a new look and meets the call criteria, please do get in touch. More information on the fund, guidance notes and how to submit applications is available on our website.”

The grants are available for projects that demonstrate alignment and deliverability against the criteria.
