Cumbria’s electricity network operator has changed name and logo following a takeover by Spanish multi-national electric utility company.
The Bilbao-based Iberdrola Group owns Scottish Power and earlier this year acquired Electricity North West, which will now be known as SP Electricity North West.
This makes Scottish Power the second largest distribution network operator in the UK – delivering electricity to around 12 million people across a network spanning more than 170,000 kilometres, from Stirling to Stockport.
The SP Electricity North West name and the Iberdrola/Scottish Power brand mark of the green leaf – symbolising renewable energy – blue drop – water and wind – and orange flame – solar energy -will now be gradually rolled out across the company, including its website, social media channels, depots, vehicles and personal protective equipment.
“We have always been champions of this wonderful part of the country and – as SP Electricity North West – that will continue, with our customers and communities at the heart of everything we do,” Stephanie Trubshaw, SP Electricity North West’s chief operating officer, said.
“As part of the Iberdrola and Scottish Power family, we will use our collective strength to be a force for good as we continue to invest and deliver the modern and resilient electricity network the North West needs as we head towards a clean energy future.
“Alongside my colleagues across the business, I’m excited to begin the next stage of our journey as SP Electricity North West.”
Keith Anderson, ScottishPower CEO, added: “The roll-out of the new SP Electricity North West name and logo strengthens the collective identity of all our network licences under the ScottishPower and Iberdrola banners.
“It builds on the history and legacy of Electricity North West as a trusted partner connecting communities and keeping electricity flowing every day – a commitment that doesn’t change as we continue towards a better future, quicker, for everyone.”
