A support programme to strengthen supply chain resilience and readiness across Cumbria’s advanced engineering and manufacturing sectors has been launched.
The fully funded Watchtower programme has been launched by Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the North West Aerospace Alliance.
It builds on the success of the Watchtower programme in Lancashire and will support businesses operating in advanced engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, defence and associated supply chains to better understand market trends, emerging risks and future opportunities.
The programme will begin with a launch session, giving businesses the opportunity to explore the Watchtower approach and understand how the programme can support their growth.
This will be followed by two optional full-day workshops, each covering different content and offering deeper, practical insight for businesses looking to take the next step.
Lesley Robinson, head of business growth & support at Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, said: “Cumbria Business Growth Hub is delighted to bring the Watchtower programme to Cumbria.
“This is a fantastic opportunity not to be missed by businesses in the advanced engineering and manufacturing sectors, alongside defence and aerospace.
“We’re holding a launch event so businesses can find out more, followed by two full-day workshops, with each day covering different content.
It’s going to be full-on, but well worth the time, and best of all, it’s fully funded for businesses in the Cumberland Council area.”
Businesses based in Westmorland & Furness can also take part for a small fee.

Previously, comparable Watchtower programmes have delivered up to £7,500 of tailored one-to-one support per business.
