A Lake District hotel, which was on the market for £1.795 million, has been sold to a local investor.
The Highfield, on The Heads in Keswick, was run by Caroline Speck, who had acquired the hotel with her late husband Howard in 2004.
Overlooking Hope Park, the 18-bedroom hotel was for sale with Colliers.
The firm said it had been sold to a local investor looking to move into the hotel and hospitality sector.
Haydn Spedding of Colliers’ Manchester office said, “The Highfield is a major hotel asset in Keswick, occupying a superb trading position on The Heads overlooking Hope Park and with glorious views over Derwentwater and Borrowdale.
“Colliers sold the Speck family into the hotel in 2004 and they have significantly upgraded the hotel but have decided to sell to concentrate on their other businesses – The Royal Yew at Dean and Shills in Cockermouth.
“The purchasers are looking to take The Highfield to an even higher level and have immediately closed to undertake a very significant refurbishment and reconfiguration of the hotel, which is expected to take six months to complete.”
