An organisation which lends money to help businesses grow has rebranded as Business Finance Cumbria.

Previously known as Enterprise Answers, the organisation has operated in the county for 20 years. It provides funding of up to £150,000 for business needs, including working capital, growth and equipment.

Since 2005 it has channelled over £20m to more than 600 businesses, enabling them to access funding when it is unavailable from high street banks or more expensive high-cost lenders.

Business Finance Cumbria has also recently doubled the size of its funding available, meeting its ambition to help many more Cumbrian businesses.

Investment director James Todhunter said the rebrand was a clear reflection of the organisation’s purpose and focus on the county.

He said: “Business Finance Cumbria has a simple purpose, which is to provide a fast, straightforward and personal service to support businesses in the county to invest and grow,” he said.

“Our mission is to help as many businesses as we can. To do that we need to make it very easy to understand what we offer.

“Our new brand name is a major step forward in achieving that.”

Business Finance Cumbria is an independent, not-for-profit lender with lending decisions made by its team in Penrith. All return on investment is put back into helping more local businesses.

“We pride ourselves on building face-to-face relationships with businesses and developing a personal understanding of their needs to give them a prompt and straightforward route to finding a solution which is tailored for them,” said James.

James and other members of the Business Finance Cumbria team were on hand to launch the new brand and tell people about the service at the Lakes Hospitality Trade Show this week at the J36 Rural Auction Centre, near Kendal.
