A Silloth firm celebrating its 50th anniversary has appointed an operations director to help it continue to grow.
Stevens Equipment Rental traces its origins to Peter Stevens Dumptruck Hire, founded by Peter in 1975.
He started with one dump truck and charged it out at £4.50 an hour. As his reputation grew, Peter bought more trucks and won substantial contracts across the North West.
His sons Andrew and Michael bought the business on the early 2000s and began to diversify. In 2021, Andrew became sole owner and spearheaded the next phase of the company’s growth.
The firm has now appointed Aidan Harrison to guide what it said was its most significant growth phase to date.
It has expanded nationwide and Aidan has joined at a time when the firm is bolstering its fleet, depot network, and service capabilities to meet surging demand for rental equipment on construction, energy, and infrastructure projects across the UK.
Aidan will oversee all operational aspects of the firm – from machine hire and servicing to sales support.
Andrew said: “We are delighted to have Aidan on board. As we celebrate 50 years in business, we are looking firmly towards the future and Aidan’s expertise in managing growth is exactly what we need to ensure our service remains best-in-class in this new chapter of our company’s history.”
Most recently, Aidan held a senior operational role within the offshore aerial survey sector.
Aidan said: “SER has spent five decades building a reputation for being flexible and responsive to customer needs.
“My goal is to ensure that as we grow larger, we also become more efficient and even more reliable for our customers.
“We’re building the operational backbone that will support the next 50 years of success.”
