
The first shipping container-style cabins to provide a temporary home for market traders in Barrow have arrived in the town.
Westmorland and Furness Council has shared details of the first units which will be joined by more located in the town centre after Easter.
Traders displaced when leaks and the presence of asbestos forced the closure of Barrow market will be able to operate from them after fitting work has been completed.
The authority is keen to stress the units are a short-term solution aimed at enabling businesses to restart trading as quickly as possible. Since the closure of the market a number have relocated to other shop units.
A Market Village which would include an event space is still proposed and could be created while the Forum and market are demolished.
