New branding is unveiled at The Victoria Wood Theatre Bowness

A Lake District theatre which has been renamed after a comedy legend has unveiled details of a new logo and identity.

The Victoria Wood Theatre in Bowness is the new name for The Old Laundry Theatre which is run by husband-and-wife team, Charlotte Scott and Roger Glossop MBE. The pair were friends of the much-loved comic who died ten years ago.

Lancaster-based Hotfoot have created a new identity and website which they say reflects the theatre’s intimate scale, creative ambition and deep connection to storytelling.

“This was a genuinely collaborative process from start to finish,” Becky Sewell, creative lead at Hotfoot, said.

“The team at The Victoria Wood Theatre brought such clarity, passion and care for the venue’s legacy. Our role was to help shape that into a brand and website that truly reflects who they are.

“The theatre has a very particular magic. It is intimate, human and deeply loved. Together, we created an identity and digital experience that feels confident, contemporary and enduring, while leaving space for the stories, performers and people to take centre stage.”

The rebrand coincides with the world premiere of the new musical Fourteen Again, with music and lyrics by Victoria Wood.

Sarah Melhuish, The Victoria Wood Theatre Bowness

“We were thrilled to unveil our bold and vibrant new theatre branding as we enter an exciting new chapter for The Victoria Wood Theatre,” Sarah Melhuish, marketing manager at The Victoria Wood Theatre said.

“This milestone gave us the perfect opportunity to design a fresh logo, update our signage, reimagine the foyer, and launch a sophisticated, stylish website that reflects who we are.”

The new brand identity and website are now live and will be rolled out across the theatre’s communications, marketing and on-site materials throughout 2026.
