One of Cumbria’s leading tourism operators is forging ahead with a series of high-profile trade events and exhibitions this week to bring new national and international visitors to the county in 2025 and beyond.
Hot on the heels of attending the Global European Marketplace and World Travel Market in London, Lake District Estates has launched a fresh campaign to help bring new business to Cumbria.
The company owns the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway and Ullswater ‘Steamers’, as well as several caravan parks, marina holiday apartments and shops operating as Peter Rabbit and Friends and The Veg Patch.
Kicking off the events schedule for 2025 will be the four-day consumer Caravan, Motorhome & Holiday Show at the Manchester Central Convention Complex from Thursday, January 16.
That will be followed by Britain & Ireland Marketplace in London on Friday January 24, showcasing the best of the UK products offer.
Ullswater ‘Steamers’ and Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway will also form part of two Visit Britain Familiarisation trips to Cumbria – with delegates hosted by VisitBritain from China and Australia.
Rachel Bell, head of marketing and business development at Lake District Estates, said: “Delivering a world class visitor experience is key to success in a fast paced and competitive marketplace, so we need to make the most of every opportunity to promote our region to domestic visitors to help lure international visitors beyond London by highlighting the Lake District as a favoured destination on their travel itineraries.
“This is not just attending events for events sake; it is essential to build customer loyalty and relationships within the domestic market and reinforce long-term existing partnerships with group travel operators to develop business in new markets. Forging strong links with organisations like the European Tour Operators Association, known as ETOA, is a key element of this work and we are looking forward to partnering with them again to help boost inbound travel in 2025.”
